Dota 2 Items on LAN

Hello, i know this problem exists for a longer time now. So i want to summarize all the tried solutions in one thread and rephrase the question behind it again.

I use ZZKirks dedicated server for Dota 2 to play it in offline LAN.

I set the server rev.ini to EnableNSSvc = UDP. Both clients are set to UDP and the servers IP. The client on my server machine (where my dedicated server runs on) is able to connect to the server properly and also the items are working on the map, they're visible. Now, the second client which is connecting over a switch and router receives the "Bad Challenge" error when trying to connect to the server. When i switch EnableNSSvc to TCP both clients connect properly but the items are not working for none of the clients.

Also: When i set the ServerIPNSNet to IP:PORT instead of only IP the client can connect even with UDP enabled but then still the items don't work. Also forwarding the port 6569 doesn't work.

Now i would like to ask if the problem is at my side (configuration), the RevEmu itself (not handling the UDP request properly within a TCP-based network) or the Dedicated Server i'm using.

Things i tried:

- Ports 6569,6570, etc forwarding
- Setting EnableNSSvc to UDP,TCP,BOTH (on all clients and server)
- Adding a port to the ServerNSNetIP (different ports were tried 6569,6570,27015)
- Added a NSDedicatedPort (6569,6570)

All those solutions did NOT work.

I would like to hear some advice.

I did the following

Server ini:

EnableNSNetSvc = UDP
ServerIPNSNet = 192.168.178.22:6569 (the IP is the one assigned by my router)

Client ini:

EnableNSNetSvc = UDP
ServerIPNSNet = 192.168.178.22

Still "Bad Challenge"

When i try a connect with my CSGO client on a CSGO server setup with RevEmu its possible to leave the ServerIPNSNet blank on serverside. The client can connect good and the skins also work..

The error only shows up on the Dota 2 dedicated server.

I did forwarding the port 6569 but it didn't work. :(

I should note that i try to get it running in an internal LAN networt. Both PCs are connected to a switch, the switch is connected to a router with an integrated DHCP-server which is assigning two IP adresses.

192.168.178.22 to my PC (which is the dedicated server and my Dota 2 client)
192.168.178.34 to the other PC which is a pure client

to which IP should i forward the port ? Aren't all ports opened in internal LAN by standard ?

Did you find the solution for that problem? I also use ZZkirk's dedicated server and was looking for the way to get rid of cosmetic items problem. As many people said, including bir3yk, the problem is caused by SourceTV that is integrated and enabled in ZZkirk's DS by default. I tried to stop SourceTV after starting a server via console commands (tv_stop, tv_enable 0) but it didn't help. In my opinion, we need to use another dedicated server or ask ZZkirk for a version without SourceTV.

You got me wrong there.

My setup looks like the following:

2 PCs, 1 PC is hosting the server and is a client aswell.
2nd PC is client only.

The server.ini is:

EnableNSNet = UDP
#ServerIPNSNet =

Client on server machine ini (Client 1 is 192.168.178.22)

EnableNSNet = UDP
ServerIPNSNet = 192.168.178.22

2nd client ini (connecting over LAN / Client 2 is 192.168.178.34)
EnableNSNet = UDP
ServerIPNSNet = 192.168.178.22

The second client is dropped with "Bad Challenge" when connecting over the network.
My setup is right.. normally but still the issue is popping up.

NSNetDedicatedPort = 27015

Connect from second client through console
connect 192.168.178.22:27015 <- (port)
jointeam good / jointeam bad (after you are connected)

command in bat file to create server
srcds.exe -game dota -window -console -insecure +ip 192.168.178.22 +hostname DotA2 +dota_wait_for_players_to_load 1 +dota_wait_for_players_to_load_count 10 +dota_wait_for_players_to_load_timeout 60 +dota_force_gamemode 1 +dota_start_ai_game 1 +sv_lan 1 +exec server.cfg +map dota.bsp

If you still have a problem with connecting maybe you need to disable your windows firewall on both computers
